Day 10

Today was the second day of PILOT. The training has been very informative for us, especially me as they continue to give pronunciation and phonetical tips on Castillan Spanish. My ears always perk up when they mention Spanish, and it happens quite a bit. Hooray!

Here is another picture of the founders in this morning session. They are showing us a map of the country they worked in. They worked in a remote tribal group and translated the Bible for this group, giving them an alphabet and a written language. Every day we get a bit more of their story and it is very fascinating. Plus it's so cute to watch them up there sharing their story.

Part of the program is learning a methodology of learning another language. They're teaching us the language they learned that I mentioned above, this tonal language, which is very difficult to pronounce. But the methodology they're using is very effective and even me, a turtle in language learning, is beginning to retain the language. Here is Gus putting a piece of paper on his head, one of the commands we learned today.

Today they even put some Jeh on the whiteboard and I took a picture, amazed at how well their methodology works, that we were understanding this very complicated language and even able to read it.

During the break time, the boys were playing together on the bed. Cael even "read" his batman book to Coen. They really love being together and it's so fun to watch their relationship develop, even at this tender young age.

So today is our 9 year anniversary. We kind of already celebrated it but we had to go and do something special. We found this pizzeria nearby...

We took the boys with us, since neither grandma was in the same state to babysit :) It wasn't exactly the most peaceful dinner but at least we were all together.

Afterwards we saw a double rainbow. I've never seen one of those before. It's been raining, hard, and thundering every day so far, so this was our treat after the storm was over.

Our 9 year anniversary picture. 9 years ago I had no idea our lives would be where we are today. At a linguistics training only a few weeks or months away from moving to a foreign country with 2 children. It's amazing how the Lord has worked in our lives to bring us to where we are today and I thank Him for all He has done. To 9 more years (at least!!)
