MacArthur in Spain, day 2

Saturday, day 2, was a big and very busy day for everyone! We are so thankful for our time with the conference and how the Lord impacted so many people in so many ways!!

It started off with a general session, worship led by Tan and another gentlemen playing the flute. It was very simple and very, very beautiful. I am so thankful for Tan and his leadership!!

Then David introduced the conference and of course the speaker. David did a great job and we are very thankful to be working alongside David!!

Then we were treated to another song by Jubilant, accompanied by Mark Rice

Then John MacArthur spoke

The auditorium seated about 600 people and it was full!

Even the back seating was almost filled to capacity!

Afterwards, many people came up for John's signature, to take a picture with him, or to meet him

In this picture below, you can barely see him because he is so surrounded by people. He was so gracious and seemed to really enjoy meeting everyone!!

Even Patricia got in on the action and had ladies and men coming up to her. She was even asked to sign some books, which she did so graciously!

Then the men were off to lunch at San Marcos

The special music for session 2 is this gentlemen who played the bagpipes! What a treat!! Parts of Spain have Celtic roots!

Here is John preaching again for session #2. Here you can get another great view of the auditorium and how many people were there! And an amazing thing happened when John was done speaking...he received a resounding applause. One of the Spanish pastors who attended the conference told us that in the 30 years that he's been a pastor, he's never heard any speaker or preacher receive a applause when he's done speaking. We were so encouraged by this act because it showed how well everyone received John and his expository preaching!!

Then after a short rest at the hotel, everyone came over to our house for a snack-type meal! It was an early dinner, 6:30, so I tried to make things lighter. Tried!

And here you can see Kevin Edwards, the missions pastor at Grace Community Church. He was one of our two houseguests and I realized how few pics I had of him while he was staying with us!

Then everyone arrived! We had about 15 people in our home and it was SUCH fun evening!

John was immediately drawn to our book selection. Of course. We have MUCHOS LIBROS (a lot of books.) A few of our books are really old and John was checking some of those out.

While he was at our house, John was trying to catch snippets of his grandson, who was playing in a college football game that was on TV. His grandson scored a touchdown and it was all very exciting. But poor guy was trying to watch it on his iPhone. Well we have access to American TV, thanks to some great people at FBC who have set it up for us so that we can not only watch live American TV but we also have at our disposal a DVR (Digital Video Recorder; aka we can record stuff and watch it later.) So we put the football game on for John and Patricia to watch their grandson! Here are all the guys watching the game! And you can see Patricia holding Coen, right at the bottom of the screen!

Yes, John MacArthur sat on my couch and watched TV in my living room! As Kevin pointed out, how many people can say that!

And here is Ruben, our other houseguest, with Gus. He's such a goof and such a great guy! We loved having him and hope he comes back with his lovely wife Jennifer VERY soon!!

I took this picture because Coen just took to Patricia. She has a ton of grandchildren and just loves kids. Coen kept bringing her his toys and had so much fun playing with her! So cute!!

I really enjoyed getting to know Patricia! Between the tea on Friday and the dinner on Saturday, I got to spend some quality time with her. She is super sweet and very godly and it was such a privilege to spend time with her!

Of course we had to take a family picture with the MacArthurs!

After dinner at our house, we went back to the auditorium for a concert. We were able to get a few shots of people who had come to Spain. Gus with Luis Contreras (John's interpretor) and his father...

I was looking forward to this concert ever since I heard Jubilant was coming to Spain! The church put on a concert to expose everyone to the building that we are building; they started off the concert with a slideshow about what the new building will look like. And then Jubilant, accompanied by Mark Rice, gave a 2 hour performance. It was SPECTACULAR!!

Both boys really enjoyed the concert and here they are during intermission burning off some energy!! Coen was being a silly little guy!

After the conference, everyone walked around the city and saw the lights show. It was pretty spectacular!!
