Days 19-21

Ok soo here is a wrap up of the last few days. Wow already 3 days ago feels like forever, since so much has happened and we've driven so far since then. I guess that's how life is like on the road. Each days feels like a lifetime!

3 days ago we said goodbye to our friends Spencer and Julie. Cael had to have one more rough housing session with Spencer before we left...

And Coen say nearby watching, wishing (I think but who knows what babies think!) that he could join in on all the fun...

One last picture! We already miss you a lot Spencer and Julie :)

We drove about an hour and a half to Columbus, Nebraska, where Gus had a meeting with a church there. So I took the boys to the park! They had a lot of fun, especially Cael who ran off all that energy before our big drive. Coen swung on the swings for the first time and really liked it!

Here are both boys together! They kept looking at each other and smiling and trying to hold hands...

After so much action, Cael had to take a moment to rest on the grass...

Then, after a very successful meeting for Gus, we were off! We hadn't been on the road for a few days and we saw lots of this...wide open spaces and a huge sky. O how we missed the open road!

And we even saw one of the most beautiful sunsets either of us had seen. Pictures cannot do it justice; it was breathtaking and filled the entire sky! This was at the end of the day in South Dakota...

We woke up in Rapid City, which is about 20 minutes from Mount Rushmore, a place both Gus and I always wanted to go when we were kids and now were able to see! So off we went....oh but on the way, Cael threw up twice. Uh oh...

All of a sudden, on the drive there, were a lot of trees and rocks. It became very beautiful!

Our first glimpse of the Mountain. You can kind of see the heads even from afar...

And we arrived...

Walking up the walkway to the mountain...

Coen was super excited and couldn't wait to see Mount Rushmore!

And finally...the picture everyone takes! It looks just like that, only smaller, because it's far away. This is majorly zoomed in. For me, it was smaller than I expected, but Gus thought it was bigger. Still it was pretty cool!

Family pic. Here you can see how far away it really is...

And then we were off. Unfortunately that day Cael threw up 4 more times. He couldn't keep anything down, even chewing gum. We were going to drive through the night but decided to stop in Billings, Montana. So we did. And thankfully Cael stopped throwing up by dinner time. He had pedialyte and saltines and kept them down. In fact, that was last night, and he hasn't thrown up since. Today he was starving and ate a lot. So it seems like it has passed. And now the prayer is that itty bitty Coen doesn't get it! I'm thankful it wasn't worse for Cael and was over so quickly! Here's Coen in the Montana Hotel room, looking cute!

This morning we woke up in Montana and drove through it all day. And let me say that it was beautiful. Hills, mountains, green, trees. Absolutely amazing. By far my favorite place to drive so far!

We even saw the sunset between the mountains and trees. Breathtaking!!

And now, after 3 days of driving, we have arrived in Washington. We're here in Spokane for the night and will continue to Yakima in the morning. There is a church there we have come to spend time with, including Gus preaching on Sunday. Please pray for this time, that it will be a fruitful one. We haven't been here before and are excited to meet more people and build a relationship with this church! And we're excited for a few days of not driving. And to be back in Pacific Standard time :) Oh the little joys :)
